Another milestone in Waco’s Downtown Redevelopment Project was reached this week with the groundbreaking of the Barron’s Branch District. Mayor Jim Holmes joined City leaders and community partners for the ceremony, sharing a few words about the significance of the project and what it means for the future of downtown Waco.
Barron’s Branch, the first phase of the Downtown Redevelopment Project, is located between Jefferson and Washington Avenues along the Brazos River. Plans include a new creek, walking trails, outdoor plazas, natural splash pads, water features, a pedestrian bridge and more.
After years of planning and community input, work is officially getting underway to transform this area near the Brazos River into a more connected and vibrant destination for Waco.
