The Downtown Form-Based Code has successfully reached its final milestone in the City of Waco’s efforts to guide thoughtful growth and investment in downtown.
On October 6th, the City Council approved and adopted the Downtown Form-Based Code within Waco's code of ordinances as the solid framework for future investment.
The approved code translates the vision of the Downtown Strategic Roadmap into clear, place-based standards for how new development contributes to downtown’s buildings, streets and public spaces. It is designed to support a walkable, connected and vibrant downtown while respecting the character that makes Waco unique.
With the Form-Based Code now adopted, this important implementation tool is in place to help streamline the development process and provide greater clarity and predictability for future investment in downtown Waco. The code will help ensure that new development aligns with the community’s vision for a walkable, connected and vibrant downtown.
The Downtown Form-Based Code is included in the City of Waco Code of Ordinances, Section 28-247 or can be viewed on the Form-Based Code page.
